Understanding LaPOST: Residents, Families and Caregivers - NEW!

Making choices about the type of medical care you would like to receive, or not receive, when you have a serious, advanced illness is vital. The Louisiana Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment document, or LaPOST, is a special document and care planning order set that may help you learn about options, organize your thoughts and communicate your wishes via a physician’s order. This informational video is designed to explain how the LaPOST document works, and how it can help you get the care you want in the place you want to be. Special thanks to St. James Place in Baton Rouge, La. for assistance with this project.

Funding was provided by a grant from the Louisiana Department of Health using civil money penalties paid into the Nursing Home Residents’ Trust Fund.
