  LaPOST Document Update

06 2016 Sen Fred Mills cThe Louisiana Legislature recently voted to make technical changes to the Louisiana Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment (LaPOST) document and place the actual form into statute. Sponsored by Sen. Fred Mills, Jr., the modifications update the language on the form and clarify processes consistent with current medical standards. “It’s so important that individuals have the ability to work closely with their physician to determine how they want to be cared for if they become seriously ill or incapacitated,“ said Sen. Mills. “Keeping the LaPOST form modernized with the latest in medical terminology is a key component in ensuring that people have a choice. Putting the form directly into the statute will now make it even easier for people to exercise their rights under LaPOST.” The bill is currently awaiting Gov. John Bel Edwards’ signature. Please note that the original form as well as the revised version will be valid for continued use with patients.
