  Quality Forum To Present During HIMSS 2016 Conference

October-Jamie-NadineTwo members of the Quality Forum staff were selected as featured speakers for the 2016 Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) Conference. Nadine Robin, Health IT Program Director, and Jamie Martin, Marketing and Communications Manager, will present, “Patient Engagement: No Diamond Ring Required,” on March 4 detailing the Quality Forum’s efforts to educate Louisiana patients in utilizing heath IT tools and resources through a statewide consumer engagement campaign. The weeklong conference will be held February 29 – March 4 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas.

5th Annual Consumer Health IT Summit in DC

October-ACH-SummitMembers of the Quality Forum traveled to Washington, DC, Oct. 1 for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC)’s 5th Annual Consumer Health IT Summit. The event celebrated advancements in health IT and featured thought-provoking discussions on ways to improve access, engage consumers and make health data more meaningful. Speakers included Karen DeSalvo, MD, Acting Assistant Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services, ONC National Coordinator and former Quality Forum Board President.

LaPOST Coalition Hosts Health Fair, Community Conversation

October-New-Roads-Health-Fair2The LaPOST Coalition held its first Health Fair and Community Conversation in New Roads on Sept. 16. Local health care vendors shared information with participants, and attendees took part in a community forum on end-of-life issues. LaPOST Coalition Chair Susan Nelson, MD, led the discussion about advance care planning resources in the community and identified barriers regarding end-of-life care planning. A follow-up session featuring Nancy Zionts with the Jewish Healthcare Foundation in Pittsburgh is scheduled for November.
